Can White people claim they’re not racist?

To the editor: Based on certain events of the past year including the infamous George Floyd affair, it has become increasingly embarrassing for me to be a White man in America. I have put a considerable effort into learning more about how deeply racism is ingrained in our society. I have come to agree that racism is systemic and that each White American bears a portion of the collective responsibility. Let me give a personal example.
Miller, Bieber both need to grow up
To the editor: Gentlemen, to your corners. In child-rearing terminology, I used to refer to this as a necessary “time out.” Joe Miller’s query about whether Sheriff Adam Bieber was in attendance at the Jan. 6 insurrection was needless energy spent.
Senate bill would rob your right to know
To the editor: The Wisconsin legislature is currently considering a bill that would give local governments the option to stop publishing a summary of their actions in your newspaper. Senate Bill 55 would allow local municipalities to post meeting minutes on their websites instead. This is bad public policy under the guise of cost savings that would create considerable disruption for government transparency.

To the editor: When COVID-19 first became a problem, I was unable to visit with my grandchildren. I had talked with them using Skype in the past but decided to try Zoom. Zoom is easy to set up and use. It is used by company employees, doctors, federal employees and many others to communicate during this pandemic.
Media, politicians not objective with Trump
To the editor: I really am fed up with the distortions and outright disgusting lack of objectivity the national media and politicians engage in when talking about President Donald Trump. The following are just a small sample of which I speak: • The media and some politicians almost universally vilify Trump as having handled the coronavirus pandemic badly.
Candidate Joe Biden has a health care plan
To the editor: Biden has real plans for health care. Yes, candidate for president Joe Biden has one. President Donald Trump? No, he has a “Trust me. I’ll get ‘it’ to you after the election.” Sad. The Biden health care plan centers around reinforcing portions of the Affordable Care Act and improving access to care.
