AROUND THE COMMUNITY: ASPI bringing ‘Lustful Youth’ to its stage

Abrams Spotlight Productions Inc. invites the community to experience comedy chaos in the performance of “Lustful Youth.” The show will be presented June 8-11 and June 15-18 at the Nancy Byng Community Theater, 5852 Maple St., Abrams. Evening shows begin at 7 p.m. while Sunday matinees begin at 2 p.m. An opening night gala exclusively for Spotlight Sponsors and 2023 season ticket holders will be held from 5-6:15 p.m.

Vaping new gateway to substance abuse
Kids have always looked for ways to rebel, and often in unsafe ways. However, the fear of getting caught has usually been a good deterrent for most kids. It is pretty clear when a teenager comes home acting weird, with the smell of alcohol on his or her breath.
AROUND THE COMMUNITY: Safe Haven pushes to turn Shawano teal
Several area downtown businesses in Shawano recently collaborated with Safe Haven Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Support Center for their Turn the Town Teal initiative, to help raise awareness of the issue of sexual assault. The city of Shawano, the Shawano Business Improvement District and Safe Haven worked together to create the campaign for the month of April.
CLUB NOTES: Shawano Optimists
Jeremy and Melanie Gretzinger, along with Brian Grieves, have been installed as the newest members of the Shawano Optimists Club. Jeremy and Melanie were both born and raised in Shawano. They are proud parents of three sons, all of whom are active in Shawano schools. Landan, 18, is a senior; Keatan, 15, a freshman; and Noah, 13, an eighth grader.
CLUB NOTES: American Legion Auxiliary Unit 44
Deb Forrest has been named 2023 American Legion Auxiliary Unit 44 Member of the Year by President Karen Prueter. Karen presented the award to Deb at the annual Legion Awards Dinner held May 1 at Legion Post 44 Clubhouse in Wabeno. Members of the year are chosen for this recognition by the unit president.
