Demmith named M&O golf player of the year

Lena High School golfer Cooper Demmith is the 2026 player of the year for the M&O Conference.

Demmith ended the regular season with a 265 score.

Also named to the first team all-conference was Gillett’s Brody Halla, who was tied for second best with a 267.

Chargers sign to play in college

Five Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School athletes signed with their respective colleges May 20 and will continue their sports careers. Manawa Grand Finale

Manawa won the girls events, and Weyauwega-Fremont won the boys events at Manawa.

For the girls, it was Manawa with 144 team points, Weyauwega-Fremont 108, Bonduel 97, Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy 97, Wittenberg-Birnamwood 94, Marion/Tigerton 70, Gresham/Bowler 40 and Wolf River Lutheran 17.

Chargers shut out Warhawks

Wittenberg-Birnamwood 10, Weyauwega-Fremont 0

Wittenberg-Birnamwood pounded out 17 hits and shut out the Warhawks 10-0.

Connor Meverden hit 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored.

Eddie Nowinsky was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored.

Oliver Fraaza was 4-for-5 with an RBI and four runs scored, and Zandyr Barke was 3-for-5 with a run scored.

Panthers win opening game in softball regionals

WIAA regionals

Oconto Falls 12, Waupaca 10

The No. 9 seed Panthers topped No. 8 Waupaca 12-10 in the opening round of WIAA regional action. Oconto Falls advanced to the Round 2 game at No. 1 Fox Valley Lutheran on May 26.

Xavier 13, Menominee Nation 0

The No. 9 Eagles ended their season with a 13-0 shutout at the hands — and bats — of No. 8 seed Xavier.

Pulaski’s Hayward wins top spot on links

FRCC Championship

Pulaski senior Brady Hawyard’s 75 made him the top golfer at Wander Springs Golf Course in Greenleaf.

Pulaski golfers scored 331 and finished fourth.

Joining Hayward on the links were Bradin Schultz with 83, Ben Klarner with 86 and Casey Madlem with 87.

Red Raiders soccer team ties again

Pulaski 0, Green Bay Preble 0

For the second game in a row, Pulaski’s soccer team played to a tie.

On the road at Green Bay Preble, the Red Raiders tied the Hornets 0-0.

Goalkeeper Tatum Wentland had three saves in the draw.
