Shirley M. Nordwig

Shirley M. Nordwig, 80, of Clintonville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, friends, and special dog Otis on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at Care Partner Assisted Living, Clintonville. Shirley Mae Malueg was born on Sept. 6, 1938, in the Town of Grant, Shawano County, the daughter of Edward and Dora (Arndt) Malueg. She spent her entire youth growing up in Caroline. She was a Marion High School graduate. On April 20, 1963, Shirley married David A. Nordwig at Zion Lutheran Church in Caroline. The couple lived most of their married life in the Shawano/Clintonville area. Shirley had worked at the Shawano Hotel, Bob’s Drive Inn, and Eagle Knit, all located in Shawano. Her hobbies included word search, gardening (especially growing flowers), reading, baking, fishing, and her love and care for animals. Shirley was a member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed going to and helping out at the Marion Senior Center. Shirley was also a Sunday School teacher for many years teaching at both Zion Lutheran Church, Caroline, and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church-Stony Hill, Shawano. Survivors include many special nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews whom she considered as her children and grandchildren. She is further survived by her beloved dog, Otis; two sisters-in-law, Mabel Nordwig, of Leopolis, and Bernice Nordwig, of Plymouth. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, David, on Feb. 11, 2017; a sister and brother-in-law, Meta and Lloyd Netzel; a sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Melvin Huebner; a brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Betty Malueg; and a nephew, Michael Netzel. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 30 at noon at St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville. The Rev. Brian Weber will officiate and burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery-Stony Hill, Shawano. Friends may call on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, is assisting the family. We wish to extend a special thank you to Care Partners Assisted Living and Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care given Shirley.
