Suring Superintendent Paul Orlich has announced plans for his retirement, effective Dec. 31. The announcement came during the Suring School Board’s regularly scheduled meeting on Oct. 9.
Orlich has served the Suring School District since August 2022 and has over 25 years of educational experience, having served as superintendent, high school principal, director of special education, assistant high school principal and special education teacher in the Suring, Mishicot, De Pere and Green Bay school districts.
Among highlights of his tenure in Suring, Orlich worked with Sheriff Todd Skarban to bring a full-time school resource officer to the district and is credited with strengthening the relationship among the district, county and local law enforcement.
Additionally, many facility improvements have been made, the most significant being the addition of the Suring Market and Agricultural Center (SMAC), a first-of-its-kind combination greenhouse, learning center and marketplace. When construction is completed later this month, approximately half of the SMAC’s cost will have been funded through fundraising and donations.
The district plans to begin its search for Orlich’s replacement soon.
