A gentle loving man, Edward S. “Ed” Yashinsky, 91, Spruce, went to heaven with special friends Grace and Leora by his side Saturday evening, Oct. 24, 2015. He was born Jan. 9, 1924, in Spruce to John and Anna (Liptak) Yashinsky. Ed grew up on the family farm in Spruce and attended Oconto Falls Public Schools, graduating from high school with the Class of 1942. On May 29, 1954, he married Dolly Spencer at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Suring.

Bennie Emil Schenkoski, 86, of Gillett, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at his home. The son of the late Emil and Emlie (Schindel) Schenkoski was born Sept. 25, 1929, in Oconto Falls. Bennie married Florence Schutt on Oct. 9, 1954, in Oconto. He worked for a number of years as a milk truck driver and later at a cheese factory. Nancy Kebschull, 69, Suring, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015. She was born Aug. 20, 1946, in Anchorage, Alaska, to the late Milo and Marge (Luebeck) Flynn. On July 2, 1988, Nancy married Gary Kebschull in Oconto. She was a caregiver at ResCare for many years.

The Machickanee Players, a nonprofit community theater group that has served Oconto for 33 years, will hold a spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Irish Greens Golf Course, 2946 Logtown Road, Oconto. The troupe operates at the former St. Mark’s Church Hall, 408 Park Ave., Oconto, which was donated to the group in the 1980s by a local patron.

Within the last two weeks, the Oconto Area Humane Society & Animal Shelter Inc. took in two dogs that are in need of medical care that is above and beyond normal veterinary exams. The first dog is Zola, a 7-year-old Shih Tzu mix, who needs to have several teeth extracted due to decay and who also suffers from a condition known as chronic dry eye. This condition has affected her eyesight but has not slowed her down.
