South Dakota State South Dakota State University (Brookings, South Dakota) announces Caleb Gross, of Lena, has graduated following the summer and fall 2023 semesters. Gross graduated with a bachelor of science degree in SDSU’s Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering.

A rural Keshena man was sentenced March 8 in federal court to three years in prison on charges of child neglect and maintaining a drug house. According to court documents, Louis J. Chevalier, 32, his girlfriend, Michelle Grignon, and their 3-year-old son were living with Chevalier’s sister and her boyfriend in a trailer in the Legend Lake area.

ThedaCare is updating isolation and masking guidelines at all facilities. The goal of these guidelines is to provide a safe, healing environment. Guidelines for visiting a patient in isolation, including those being treated for COVID-19, include a limit of two visitors at the same time. Visitors should go directly to the patient’s room and remain in the room during the visit, except to use the public restroom.

Cancer care experts are highlighting a concerning trend that has emerged in recent years – a significant increase in colorectal cancer cases among younger adults. Colorectal cancer, traditionally seen as a disease of older individuals, has become the leading cause of cancer death among people under 50. In 2023, the American Cancer Society (ACS) reported that 20% of diagnoses in 2019 were in patients under age 55 — about double the rate in 1995.

Two theaters in northeast Wisconsin are holding auditions for summer shows. Abrams Spotlight Productions Inc. will hold auditions for its summer comedy, “Boeing Boeing” to be presented June 6-9 and June 13-16. Individuals will have two opportunities to audition at 6-8 p.m. April 1 or April 3 at the Nancy Byng Community Theater, 5852 Maple St., Abrams. The auditions will include a reading from the script.
