Chargers beat Eagles in softball
May 6 Wittenberg-Birnamwood 10, Menominee Indian 5 Wittenberg-Birnamwood defeated Menominee Indian 10-5. The Chargers held a 4-1 lead after the first inning, but by the fifth inning, the game was tied 5-5. Wittenberg-Birnamwood scored twice in the sixth and three times in the seventh to secure the win. For the Chargers, Rory Salvesen hit 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored.
Shawano baseball team pummels Green Bay East/West
May 6 Shawano 28, Green Bay East/West 1 The Hawks improved to 9-6 with a lopsided 28-1 win over Green Bay East/West. After taking a 4-1 lead after one inning, Shawano poured it on with three in the second, 12 in the third and nine more in the fourth. Jerzy Brocker hit 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs, and Parker Beyer was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, a double and a triple. Carsen Herm hit 5-for-6 with four RBIs.
Bonnie B. Dickelman-Cannon
Bonnie B. Dickelman-Cannon, 87, formerly of Shawano, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Benedictine Living Community, Wausau. Bonnie was born May 21, 1936, in Sheboygan, daughter of George and Amelia (Skrube) Bacon. She married James Wolff, and they were blessed with five children.
Sacred Heart fundraiser celebrates 135 years
