Dickman scores four goals, teams comes up short

Jan. 18 Marshfield 6, Antigo 5 Owen Dickman scored four goals and Antigo battled back late in the third period but the Red Robins pulled up short, losing 6-5 to Marshfield. The Tigers took an early 2-0 lead, scoring twice in the first two minutes. Dickman put Antigo on the board at 3:10 with assists from Parker Chaney and Eli Kassler. Marshfield scored again to take a 3-1 lead.
Shawano, Antigo hockey teams win
Jan. 16 Shawano/Bonduel 7, Beaver Dam 5 After a somewhat quiet first period, Shawano/Bonduel found its footing and scored several times in the second and third periods to beat Beaver Dam 7-5. Trailing 2-0 after the first period, Kielman Armbruster put Shawano/Bonduel on the board with a goal at 5:20 in the second period; Cameron Schroeder assisted.
Lena wrestlers go 2-1 at home quad
Jan. 17 Lena Quad Lena’s boys wrestlers went 2-1 at their home quad, defeating Kewaunee and Bonduel but losing to D.C. Everest. Lena 41, Kewaunee 21 Lena started with three wins over Kewaunee. At 106 pounds, Isaac Peterson won 16-0 on a technical fall. Sam Peterson won at 114 on a forfeit, and Brayden Graef won at 120 on a pin in 1:01. Parker Boomsma lost 16-13 at 126 for Lena’s first defeat.
Tomahawk swimmers edge Shawano/Seymour
Jan. 16 Tomahawk 80, Shawano/Seymour 67 Tomahawk had just enough in the tank to pull out an 80-67 win over Shawano/Seymour’s boys swim team. “It was a close meet,” coach Sarah Tracy said.
Barkley places fourth at Wausau meet
Jan. 18 Wausau Warrior Women’s Challenge There was plenty of stiff competition at the Wausau Warrior Women’s Challenge with more than 75 schools and 500 wrestlers participating. “The team wrestled well today as we faced very tough competition,” Shawano coach Mike Homan said.
Bears perfect at 13-0
Jan. 14 Bonduel 71, Valders 58 Ryan Westrich had a double double with 24 points and 14 rebounds in Bonduel’s 71-58 win over Valders. Quinn Wesenberg dropped in five 3-pointers and had 20 total points.
Grantquist hits 1,000 points
Jan. 18 Gillett 74, Northland Pines 36 Gillett improved to 12-2 overall with a 74-36 dismantling of Northland Pines. Gillett is on a four-game winning streak. Menominee Nation 51, Shiocton 25 Jan.
