Marjorie M. Sweda

Marjorie M. Sweda, 69, of the town of Underhill, Oconto County, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, with her loving husband by her side. Marjorie was born Jan. 21, 1944, in Mount Clemens, Mich., a daughter of the late Harold and Hazel (Socia) DeCaussin. She attended school in Mount Clemens. Following graduation from high school, she attended St Mary’s School of Nursing in Milwaukee. On Aug.

Frederic Joseph Raasch, 73, of the Gresham area, passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, in Shawano. Born on May 25, 1940, in Shawano, he was the son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Dillenberg) Raasch. Fred owned and operated Shawano/Gresham Sand and Gravel and was a member of the St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Gresham.
William C. “Bill” Peterson
William C. “Bill” Peterson, 84, of the town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday evening, Nov. 28, 2013, following a battle with colon and liver cancer. Bill was born May 10, 1929, in the town of Belle Plaine, son of the late Lynn and Margaret (Mervyn) Peterson. He attended country schools and farmed for his entire career. His priority was raising hogs.
Kurt D. Buettner
Kurt D. Buettner, 54, of Shawano, lost his valiant, 10-month battle with esophageal cancer on Friday morning, Nov. 29, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. He was born Oct. 4, 1959, in Shawano, a son of Selma (Hildebrandt) Buettner and the late Clifford Buettner. Kurt attended the Gresham schools, graduating from Gresham High School in 1978. Following high school, he studied forestry at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. On Aug.

Arnold R. Greenhill, 66, of Shawano, peacefully passed away at his home on Saturday evening, Nov. 30, after a long and valiant battle with multiple myeloma. The son of Harold and Evelyn (Melgaard) Greenhill, he was born on Aug.
Ione M. Schultz
Ione M. Schultz, 93, of Shawano, passed away Thursday, Nov. 27, 2013, in Green Bay. Born on May 18, 1920, in Shawano, she was the daughter of the late Grover and Eleanor (Kaempf) Beversdorf. On April 21, 1946, she was united in marriage to Leonard H. Schultz at the St. James Meeting and Dining Hall in Shawano because the church had recently been destroyed by fire and hadn’t been completed.
Few problems reported from first snowfall
Things got a bit messy and road crews worked through the day to keep on top of it, but the first significant snowfall of the season Tuesday reportedly caused few problems. “It went well,” Shawano County Highway Commissioner Grant Bystol said.
