Dorothy M. Bubb, 90, Oconto Falls, died Saturday evening, Jan. 4, 2014, at the Woodlands of Gillett. She was born Dec. 6, 1923, in Oconto Falls to Albert and Hattie (Sell) Montie and grew up in the area. On Dec. 14, 1940, she married Jerome Bubb in Marinette. Dorothy lived for most of her life in rural Oconto Falls where she enjoyed tending her large flower and vegetable gardens.

Steve J. Yatso, 90, of Boulder City, Nev., formerly of Wisconsin, died Sunday afternoon, Jan. 5, 2014, at the home of his niece near Black Creek. He was born Feb. 1, 1923, in Exeter, Penn., to Steven Sr. and Mary (Mikeska) Yatso. As a little boy, Steve moved with his parents to the Oconto Falls area, where he graduated high school with the Class of 1942. Following graduation, he entered the U.S.

The Gillett Secondary School girls basketball team lost to Peshtigo 42-14 in a Marinette & Oconto Conference game Friday in Peshtigo. Peshtigo (6-1, 5-0 M&O) built a 10-4 lead in the first quarter and was up 18-6 by halftime. Nicole Rotter led Gillett (2-6, 2-2 M&O) with six points. The Suring High School boys basketball team fell behind early and couldn’t catch up to Bonduel in a 62-50 nonconference loss Friday in Bonduel. The Eagles (3-5, 1-4 Marinette & Oconto Conference) fell behind 17-8 in the first quarter, despite facing a Bonduel team that had given up 63 and 71 points in two previous losses. “We’ve been struggling a little bit lately,” Bonduel coach Duke Copp said.
