Shawano Police Department Oct. 19 Police logged 21 incidents, including the following: Disturbance — A 24-year-old Keshena man was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after a fight at Hensel’s, 134 S. Washington St. Disorderly — Police responded to a disorderly conduct complaint at the Four Seasons Resort, 201 N.

A 22-year-old Birnamwood man was killed early Saturday after his vehicle crashed into a house on U.S. Highway 45 in the town of Aniwa, according to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department. Tony M. Modrzejewski was pronounced dead at the scene. A 21-year-old Wittenberg man, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was airlifted from the crash. Sheriff’s deputies, along with Birnamwood Fire and Ambulance, were called to the scene shortly before 3 a.m.

Shawano Police Department Oct. 20 Police logged 24 incidents, including the following: Threatening — Police responded to a threatening complaint in the 3500 block of East Richmond Street. Fraud — Police investigated a fraud complaint at Qualheim’s True Value, 1345 E.

Menominee Reservation native Raymond Kaquatosh, now in his 90s and living near Waupaca, is on a book tour that will bring him back to Keshena on Thursday. Kaquatosh will talk about his memoir, “Little Hawk and the Lone Wolf,” in a free, public program at 11 a.m.

The Shawano School Board unanimously approved its 2014-15 budget Monday, but it came with a warning that a larger tax hike could be looming next year. The budget kept the 2014 tax rate at $10.34 per $1,000 of equalized valuation, 3 cents higher than last year.

Gresham School On Oct. 15, Gresham Culture Club Students attended a Career Fair in Oneida. The students had a chance to learn about a wide variety of jobs and the education needed for them. The students also talked to college representatives and learned about different colleges. There was a FFA blood drive Oct. 15 at Gresham School, thanks to the American Red Cross.

Gregory J. Bergquist, 36, of the Township of Larrabee, Waupaca County, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at his residence. Greg was born on Aug. 29, 1978, in Hampton, Iowa, the son of Judy (Whiting) Hansen and the late John Bergquist. The Bergquist family later moved to Hortonville, then Clintonville, where Greg graduated from high school in 1997. Greg continued to live and work at various jobs in the Clintonville area.

Harold F. “Mequon” Cleveland, 53, of Keshena, started his journey to the Spirit World on Sunday evening, Oct. 19, 2014, in Shawano. Mequon was born on Jan. 11, 1961, in Shawano, a son of the late Harold A. and Lois Mae (Pamanet) Cleveland. He was a graduate of Shawano High School. Following high school, Mequon entered the United States Navy, where he served for 20 years, was honorably discharged and retired.

A fourth suspect has been arrested following a recent Internet sex sting operation after he continued making contact with undercover investigators after the operation was over. Nathan C.
