Ordway James “Ordie” Berndt, 85, of Arbor Vitae, died on Friday, Aug. 28, at Our Home K Care in Lac du Flambeau. Ordie was born on May 20, 1930, in Clintonville, the son of Henry and Sophie (nee Seehafer) Berndt. Ordie married Mae Evelyn Bartz on March 1, 1952. He served in the U.S.
Edward G. Diem
Edward G. Diem, 89, of Clintonville, and formerly of Tigerton, passed away Thursday evening, Aug. 27, 2015, at Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Marion. Edward Gustave Diem was born at home on April 22, 1926, in the town of Germania, Shawano County, to the late Ludwig and Clara (Malueg) Diem. He was raised and attended school in Tigerton.
Rev. Merlin J. Hoeft
The Rev. Merlin James Hoeft, 95, retired United Methodist pastor, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, at his home in Evergreen Retirement Community–Oshkosh, surrounded by his family. Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, from 4-8 p.m. at Seefeld Funeral Home, 1025 Oregon St., Oshkosh, and at church on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. The funeral service will be at noon Saturday, Sept.
Emma V. Hawpetoss
Emma Veronica Hawpetoss, 83, of Shawano, formerly of Duluth, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, in Shawano. Emma was born in Keshena on July 15, 1932, to the late Paul Hawpetoss-Pemma and Mary (Alloway) Hawpetoss.

Larry L. Krueger, 72, of Marion, passed away Monday evening, Aug. 31, 2015, at his home. The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Marion, is assisting his family.
Charla Lyons
Charla Kay Lyons, 59, of Marion, passed away on Friday, Aug. 28, 2015. She was born to Roger and Goldie (Bruette) Schreiber in Shawano on June 8, 1956. On June 15, 1974, Charla was united in marriage to James “Dude” Lyons Sr. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Charla and James have been together since they were 15 years old. Charla was a loving and joyful person. She was often happy and laughing.

City, county each holding citizen law enforcement academies
City and county authorities will offer citizen academies this month, as Shawano police and the sheriff’s department each look to educate residents about the workings of local law enforcement. Friday is the official deadline for applying for the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department’s Citizen’s Academy, but applications will be taken until classes are filled. The academy will consist of seven three-hour sessions taking place from 6-9 p.m.

Crash victim identified as Clintonville man
Authorities have released the name of a Clintonville man who died Thursday as a result of a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 45 in Marion. Marion police said they were notified about 10 p.m. that Edward Diem, 89, succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah. The crash occurred about 4:48 p.m.
