Bonduel girl reclaims spelling bee title

Here’s a primer on how to haiku
Did you know that Dec. 14th through the 20th was “Haiku Week”? Neither did I, until it was too late to do anything about it. Well, anyway, the Detroit Free Press ran a special Haiku Week contest, asking readers to submit their “best” haiku based on a holiday theme. What a cool idea! Maybe I can get this newspaper to do it next year, right? OK, just in case there are some readers out there who don’t know about haiku, here’s a very quick lesson.

Campshure pens 8th show for Oconto theater
Kathy Campshure, of Gillett, will add play No. 8 to her list of shows written for the Machickanee Players as “With This Ring” debuts Friday at the Park Avenue Playhouse in Oconto. Campshure’s new show is a three-act comedy with her as playwright, director and cast member. “With This Ring” features Mr. Snoodle as an advertising executive trying to promote his new product for aging men.

Delores Scully
Delores “Dee” (Heisler) Scully, 84, Oconto Falls, died on Thursday morning, Jan. 28, 2016, at Woodlands of Gillett, surrounded by her family. She was born on Feb. 18, 1931, in Barrington, Illinois, to Phillip and Mary (Willes) Heisler Sr. As a little girl, Dee moved with her family to the Mountain area, where she grew up and attended public school.

Abigail Reiswitz
Abigail “Abby” Raye Reiswitz, 13, of Peshtigo, passed away on Jan. 27, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay due to allergy and asthma complications. Abby had fought a battle with these her entire life. Born on Feb. 26, 2002, in Marinette, daughter of Gena Hasse and Michael Reiswitz, she most recently attended eighth grade at Peshtigo Middle High School.

Sharon Hanson
Sharon Hanson, 73, of Suring, passed away at Woodland Village Nursing Home on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016. She was born on March 19, 1942, to the late Charles and Lucinda (Long) Phillips. Sharon Phillips married Orvel Hanson on June 11, 1960. She was the head baker for Suring Public School for 17 years.

Norma A. Ondik, 75, Suamico, passed away at home on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016. She was born in Maple Valley on Oct. 28, 1940, to the late Conrad and Verna (Ramage) Christensen. Norma married Joe Ondik in Suring on June 25, 1960.
