Officials at the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department are considering outsourcing the food service for the county jail.
Sheriff George Lenzner said one of the issues is the recurring theme of not being able to properly staff the kitchen.
“The biggest problem we’re having is with the money we’re paying them, it’s hard to find people to work those hours,” he told the public safety committee Aug. 6.
The continuing discussion about the homeless situation in Shawano could yield a temporary solution as Newcap has offered its land for people to camp out without fear of citation, harassment or potential harm.
The subject of off-road vehicles traversing the streets of Shawano has been a bone of contention for nearly a year, but now more restrictions seem on the verge of happening.
