In Division 2 action at Crystal Springs Golf Course in Seymour, the Oconto Falls golf team placed ninth among nine teams to bring an end to their season.

The Panthers scored 432. Seymour won the sectional title with 370.

For the Panthers, freshman Riley Borkovec tied for 19th with 100. She was joined by seniors Kylie Thompson and Addy Kuth with 106 each, and senior Katelyn Kurek with 120.

Junior Lilly Wagner carded a 122.

The De Pere Redbirds notched a 3-0 conference win over the visiting Pulaski Red Raiders on Oct. 7.

After a scoreless first half, De Pere pulled away in the second half with three unanswered goals. Anson Fawcett broke the deadlock in the 47th minute, and the Redbirds added goals in the 63rd and 64th minutes.

Mary E. Schuettpelz, 73, of Suring, passed away Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025.

Mary was born June 24, 1952, to the late Ruben and Irma (Schallock) Hasselquist. She graduated from Rhinelander High School with the class of 1970.

Mary met her future husband, Randall Schuettpelz, through his roommate and her boyfriend at the time, who later set them up. The couple was married Oct. 6, 1973, in Rhinelander, and the couple settled in Suring.

At the Shawano Optimist Club’s 49th installation and awards banquet, held recently at Stubborn Brothers in Shawano, Kristine Rankin was named the club’s Optimist of the Year and Jim Black received the James Leuenberger Lifetime Achievement Award.

In addition, the officers and board members for the 2025-26 year were installed, and members achieving perfect attendance at club meetings and participating in club projects were recognized.
