Gillett to offer kindergarten screening

Gillett Elementary School will hold its 4-year-old kindergarten registration on Thursday, March 19, and early childhood screenings on Friday, March 20. During kindergarten registration/screening, children who will be of school age in the fall (4 years old by Sept. 1) are brought to school by their parents. While at school, the children will be involved in a number of activities at various stations. While engaged in the play-type activities, the 4-year-old kindergarten teachers will evaluate each child’s motor development, social skills, cognitive development and language development. At the end of the approximately 30-minute screening, parents and children will meet with the teacher to review the information. Parents of eligible children should have received a packet of information from the school regarding 4-year-old kindergarten registration, along with a scheduled time for screening. Early childhood candidates (3 years old by Sept. 1) also should have received a form to be filled out and sent back. Families with eligible children who are new to the district or those who did not receive an information packet are asked to call Becky Pockat at Gillett Elementary, 920-855-2119.
