Mary Smith, director of the Suring School Fishery Program, gave a presentation to Suring Sportsman’s Club members March 26.
The Suring School Fishery Program is raising 150 fingerling rainbow trout, which were acquired as eggs. They recently purchased a much larger tank as the fishery plans to raise the fish until they’re a year old before releasing them.
The students at Suring School participate in the care and feeding of the trout in the fishery program. Students are also learning about about their lifecycle.
Suring Sportsman’s Club President Jay Tousey presented a check for $1,000 to the Suring School Fishery Program to continue this work.
