Dairyland Baseball

Hortonville and Waupaca will meet at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 25 in Hortonville for the Dairyland Baseball grand championship. Both teams advanced with wins Aug. 18. Waupaca defeated Hofa Park 7-1, and Hortonville topped Navarino 4-1 in their semifinal games. The Navarino Rangers jumped out to an early lead on Brett Krull’s solo home run in the top of the first. Navarino then stranded eight runners over the next four innings as Hortonville hit a home run of their own in the bottom of the fifth. The Stars then utilized clutch hitting to add three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Navarino put the first two runners on in the ninth but failed to plate a run. Spencer Dauphinee was sharp on the mound only allowing one run on one hit through five innings. James Mutchie picks up the loss as Mike Nompleggi threw 2 1/3 innings.
