4-H members learn, grow at summer camp
4-H Members from Marinette, Oconto, and Shawano counties joined together at Marinette County Camp Bird for a residential camp experience in June. Ninety campers, 30 counseling staff, and 15 adult staff consisting of University of Wisconsin-Extension professionals, health professionals, lifeguard, and 4-H volunteers were present. The 4-H counseling staff consisted of teens from across the three counties, with training and team-building activities

Hillside Assembly to recycle electronics, wash cars
Hillside Assembly Royal Rangers Boys’ Ministry is teaming with B3 Recycling Solutions of De Pere for an electronics recycling day and car wash from 9 a.m. to noon May 11 at the church, 5890 State Highway 22, Gillett. Most items are free to recycle. There is a small fee for monitors, televisions, refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers and air conditioning units.

Wisconsin Public Radio reorganizing services
Following two years of analysis, audience research and planning, WPR is reorganizing its statewide service to help listeners more easily find and enjoy news and music on the radio and on wpr.org. Beginning May 20, WPR’s two current networks — NPR News and Music and The Ideas Network — will become WPR News and WPR Music.

Check forecast before spreading manure on fields
The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is reminding farmers and manure applicators to check the runoff risk advisory forecast before spreading manure on fields. This tool helps determine the potential for manure runoff from a field depending on weather conditions and soil temperature. The runoff risk advisory forecast ​includes maps showing short-term runoff risk for manure application.

811 should be called before digging begins
Alliant Energy encourages residents and contractors to call 811 before any digging projects. A quick call to 811 or click on call811.com prior to planting trees or shrubs, fencing a yard or building a playset can prevent a fine or a potentially dangerous accident with gas or electric lines. The announcement coincides with National Safe Digging Month.

Auditions coming for 2 theater shows
Two theaters in northeast Wisconsin are holding auditions for summer shows. Abrams Spotlight Productions Inc. will hold auditions for its summer comedy, “Boeing Boeing” to be presented June 6-9 and June 13-16. Individuals will have two opportunities to audition at 6-8 p.m. April 1 or April 3 at the Nancy Byng Community Theater, 5852 Maple St., Abrams. The auditions will include a reading from the script.
