AROUND THE COMMUNITY: Shawano County farmers get food assistance funds
The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) and Marbleseed announced 165 Wisconsin farmers have been awarded funds through the 2023 Wisconsin Local Food Purchase Assistance (LFPA) program. CLUB NOTES: Shawano Optimists
Under the leadership of President Troy Edwards, the Shawano Optimist Club has earned Honor Club recognition for the 2021-22 year. Honor Club criteria represent the basic level of service any Optimist Club should strive to provide every year. “The Honor Club concept promotes service to children, service to community and service to ourselves through personal growth and development,” Edwards said.

American Legion Sylvan Post 44 spoke to students regarding the Great Depression. The Wabeno High School junior classes are currently learning about the Great Depression.
Steve Austin to bring his music to Cecil
A musician is bringing his one-man show back to the area for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day this year. Steve Austin, who resides in Tennessee and used to live in Oconto County, will be at Meet and Treat, 205 N. Warrington Ave., from noon to 3 p.m. May 14 and 4-7 p.m. June 18 to provide visitors with a variety of music that he calls a mix between country and folk music.
Nurse practitioner comes to Oconto County clinics
