HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital is a recipient of a 2014 Outstanding Clinical Site award from the nurse anesthesia program at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, Illinois.
HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital is one of 28 health care facilities across Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana that serves as a clinical residency program for students in the RFUMS nurse anesthesia program. Each year, the graduating class of the program selects three clinical sites they feel best contributed to their education and goals toward becoming certified registered nurse anesthetists, and recognize each of them as an Outstanding Clinical Site.
“Our anesthesiology department is comprised of compassionate medical professionals who provide high quality care in our critical access hospital each and every day,” said Dan DeGroot, COO, HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital. “HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital is honored to receive the Outstanding Clinical Site award, which shows our anesthesia department provides valuable education and guidance to anesthesiology medical professionals of the future.”
The anesthesiology department at HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital includes Dr. James Split, Phil Rhode, CRNA, and Tricia Rocole, CRNA, who work one-on-one with the students from RFUMS.
“Our affiliation with HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital offers a tremendous opportunity for our students to grow in their understanding of the roles and skills essential for high-quality nurse anesthesia services in a critical access hospital setting,” said Sandra Larson, chair and program director of the Department of Nurse Anesthesia at RFUMS. “We are grateful for the opportunities that unfold from our relationship on multiple levels. Everyone involved is learning and benefiting from what each brings to the relationship and translates directly and indirectly to improved patient outcomes.”
Representatives from the RFUMS nurse anesthesia program presented HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital with the award Nov. 11.
