CJ Payawasay hit a triple and two doubles, had three RBIs and scored three times in the Eagles 18-6 winnower the Wolves.

Craig Penass hit 4-f0r-6 with a double and two RBIs. Caleb Grignon was 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored. August Nahwahquaw hit 3-for-6 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Comets shut out Hawks on soccer field

The Comets scored once in the first half and twice after the break as Waupaca shut out Shawano 3-0.

Demmith earns medalist honors at Hobart course

Lena’s Cooper Demmith earned medalist honors and led his team to victory at Thornberry Creek at Oneida in Hobart.

Lena won with a 376, one stroke ahead of Coleman and five strokes better than third-place Gillett.

Demmith scored 86, followed by teammates Tanner Behnke’s 88, Lucas Mongiat’s 100 and Zander Thomson’s 102.

BABA kicks off 2026 season on Mother’s Day

The Badger Amateur Baseball Association kicked off the 2026 season May 10 with eight games in three divisions.

Birnamwood, Aniwa and Eland picked up wins in the North Division; Little Falls, Wittenberg and Tigerton won their West Division games; and Clintonville and Gresham won in the East Division. The South-Central Division did not have games scheduled and will open division play May 17.

Nichols knocks off Shawano in Dairyland game

One week after giving up 22 runs to Bonduel in their Dairyland League opener, Nichols responded with a 12-5 win over the Shawano Lobos.

The game was one of four Dairyland games scheduled for May 10. Results were not reported from the other three games, while two teams — Pulaski and Hofa Park — had a bye.

Pulaski baseball team wins weekend DH

Pulaski 8, Green Bay Preble 1

Eli Heuser hit 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in the Red Raiders’ 8-1 win over the Hornets.

Gavin Sikorski was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Brayden Wiedeman and Eddie Van Roy each had a pair of RBIs.

Brock Wiedeman was the winning pitcher. In seven innings, he gave up 1 run on 1 hit and walked 2.

Wassenberg wins USRA late models feature race

For the second time in six weeks, Saturday night races were held at the Shawano Speedway. The other four nights were canceled due to rain conditions.

On May 9, Clintonville’s Lucas Lambereis won the 20-lap IMCA modifieds feature race after starting in 10th place. Pole sitter Adam Abbey, of Marion, was second, and Trace Yeager, of Shawano, was third.

Abbey won the first heat, and Yeager won the second heat.
