School board OKs personnel moves

The Shawano School Board gathered in a special virtual meeting April 7 to approve several personnel moves. Karly Heimke was appointed as a sixth grade language arts teacher at Shawano Community Middle School, effective with the 2025-26 school year. Jodi Guenther was named special education coordinator, effective July 1. Eighth grade teacher Angela Williamson Emmert resigned, effective April 8. Resigning at the end of the 2024-25 school year are Michelle Mahkimetas-Kurkiewicz, a fifth grade teacher at Olga Brener Intermediate School; and Sydney Marohnic, a special education teacher at Hillcrest Primary School. Paraprofessional Marilyn “Mitzi” Ward is retiring at the end of the current school year. Retirement of support staff does not need board approval; members were simply notified of the retirement. kpasson@newmedia-wi.com
