Oconto Falls High School returns five golfers this season, including four starters from the 2013 campaign.
The Panthers ended last year on a high note, shooting a season-best 420 in the regional tournament.
“We are looking forward to building on the success,” coach Paul Luebke said. “We have four returning starters to build consistency and improve on their game.”
Senior Liz Coopman is one of two returning seniors and serves as the team captain. The other senior is Julie Moore.
“I expect them to be team leaders for the younger golfers. Julie has the ability to be a long ball hitter,” Luebke said. “I see Julie becoming a more consistent golfer as the year goes on and to use her hitting ability to her advantage.
“Liz is our team captain and has been really working on her game this summer. I see an improvement in her game and look forward to see where it takes her.”
Junior Brittany Russell made an early impression with a team-leading 52 during a Bay Conference match Thursday at River Island Golf Course.
“(Russell) has really stepped up her game this year. Her iron play has really come around,” Luebke said. “I see no reason why she won’t consistently be in the 40s anytime soon.”
Other players returning to the Panthers are juniors Bridget Gorman and Rebecca Berkovitz.
The Panthers also will have three new golfers, Cailin Cleary, Chloe Hetzel and Brenna Jaeger.
