Keith Marquardt, director of the Shawano County parks department, may soon have a new office.
For years, Marquardt has used a small house at the Shawano Lake County Park as his office. Now, with the county planning to build a new cold storage warehouse with office space in the front, Marquardt will soon vacate the house.
The highway and parks committee, as well as the public property committee, approved plans for the new building in early September. The county will now solicit bids for the project.
Dan Roarty, owner and architect for Dimension IV in Green Bay, designed the building. He will now prepare the bid packet for builders.
The county budgeted $363,000 in its 2026 capital improvement budget for the building.
The parks department has expensive equipment that currently sits out in the elements. The warehouse area will also include a mezzanine, and the office area will include a breakroom.
Marquardt’s current office space will be remodeled, and the house will be turned into a short-term rental unit.
