Hillside Assembly of God Church will host the 34th annual Gillett Community Thanksgiving Dinner, consisting of turkey and ham with all the trimmings from 3:30-6 p.m. Nov. 27. Mike Musolff will be ascending to the Shawano police chief position once the current leader, Bradley Rabideau, retires in February 2025. The longtime lieutenant was named to the position Oct. 24 by the Shawano Police and Fire Commission after 18 years in his current position. He started his law enforcement career in 1995 with the Shawano County Jail before joining the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department in 1997.

The preliminary hearing for Zachary Runion, who faces a myriad of charges resulting from an alleged attack on some relatives in the Town of Belle Plaine, had to be rescheduled once again. Runion’s preliminary hearing had previously been rescheduled due to not having an attorney from the public defender’s office. Eric Maciolek was appointed Oct. 17 to be Runion’s counsel, but he was unable to attend a status conference Nov.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will host four open houses in mid-November to share information about proposed changes to the state’s deer management units (DMUs). Three of these open houses will be in-person, with a fourth being entirely virtual. The DNR reviews deer management unit boundaries every few years.
