Wildcats out of tourney after loss
The Gresham Community High School volleyball team got off to a fast start in its WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal match against Gillett on Thursday, but could not hang on, losing 3-1 to end its season. Gresham, the No. 3 seed, was solid in a first-game victory over No. 2 Gillett. The Wildcats pulled ahead 18-8 on a 8-1 run with Brianna Stehberger serving, before going on to win 25-14.
Bears' season ends with loss to Coleman
The Bonduel High School volleyball team was bounced from the WIAA Division 3 regional after a 3-1 loss to Coleman Thursday in Coleman. Bonduel, the No. 4 seed, lost to top-seeded Coleman in the first game 25-22, before going on to win a razor-close second game 27-25.
Shawano/Bonduel takes first at sprints
The Shawano/Bonduel girls swim team won Thursday’s 13th annual Shawano sprint meet at Shawano Community High School. Shawano/Bonduel scored 312 points to take first, edging out second-place Sturgeon Bay (306.5). Clintonville (212) took third. “This is a fun meet and they had a lot of fun,” Shawano/Bonduel coach Sharon Hanson said.
Marvin R. Genke
Marvin R. Genke, 84, formerly of Bonduel, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at Shawano. Marvin was born on Sept. 7, 1929, to the late Richard and Helen (Zastrow) Genke in Shawano. On June 6, 1953, he married Betty Zittlow at Peace Lutheran Church in Kunesh. She preceded him in death in 2006. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel. Together Marvin and Betty farmed and raised four children.
Andy Paul Beaudin
Andy Paul Beaudin, 80, of Mason Woods, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, Oct. 23, 2013, at his home with his loving family by his side. Andy was born January 20, 1933 in Laona, a son of the late Andy and Viola (Biever) Beaudin. Andy attended the Laona schools and was a graduate of Laona High School. Following high school, he served his country by entering the United States Air Force.
Dean R. Sederstrom
Dean R. Sederstrom, 76, of Shawano, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at Shawano. Dean was born on June 4, 1937, to the late Elmer and Loretta (Peterson) Sederstrom in Shawano. On May 25, 1957, he married Alice “Chick” Funk at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. Dean worked for Morning Glory Dairy from 1958-1968.
