Bonduel begins search for school administrator

The Bonduel School Board hopes to have a new district administrator to replace Peter Behnke by early May. Behnke, 62, announced last week he would retire June 30 after 25 years in Bonduel. The board held a special meeting Monday to discuss the process, when to review applications and when to conduct interviews. Behnke said he anticipated 15 to 25 applicants for the position and suggested that the board pick six to eight for interviews.
Boivin replaces Corn as Menominee chairperson
Laurie Boivin was elected chairwoman of the Menominee Tribal Legislature at an annual reorganizational meeting Sunday, replacing Craig Corn, who served as chairman for the last two years. The vote returns Boivin to the role she last held in 2010.

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School wrestling team earned its third consecutive championship, Bonduel placed second and Menominee Indian third Saturday at the Central Wisconsin Conference tournament in Wittenberg. Wittenberg-Birnamwood, which wiwrestling.com has ranked as the No. 2 team in Division 2, finished with seven champions.
Hawks blow out Oconto Falls
The Shawano Community High School boys basketball team was the clear favorite going into Tuesday’s Bay Conference game with Oconto Falls. When the Panthers handed the Hawks 25 extra chances — that is 25 turnovers — the mismatch only grew. Bonduel girls defeat Weyauwega-Fremont The Bonduel High School girls basketball team beat Weyauwega-Fremont 56-50 in a Central Wisconsin Conference-8 game Tuesday in Weyauwega. Jennifer Dowden led Bonduel (14-3, 8-2 CWC-8) with 23 points. Alexa Reinke had 11 points and six rebounds.

Bonduel boys defeat Manawa The Bonduel High School boys basketball team beat Manawa 67-48 in a Central Wisconsin Conference-8 game Friday in Bonduel. Zach Zernicke led Bonduel (9-9, 4-6 CWC8) with 16 points.
Hawks swimmers finish second
The Shawano Community High School boys swim team took second place in the Great Northern Conference meet Friday in Rhinelander. Shawano had a team score of 298, bested only by Lakeland Union’s 326. Zach Soper took firsts in the 100-yard butterfly and the 100 backstroke and was named the Great Northern Conference swimmer of the year. Griffin Rades took first in the 200 individual medley.
Hawks' last-second shot off mark
The Shawano Community High School girls basketball team failed to hold off a West De Pere rally Friday night in Shawano, losing 30-28 to the Bay Conference foe. The Hawks (4-12, 4-8 Bay) were just inches short on a final shot by junior Courtney Vomastic, who had come off the bench to score a team-high eight points in the second half.

Chargers dominate Weyauwega-Fremont The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School girls basketball team beat Weyauwega-Fremont 57-35 in a Central Wisconsin Conference-8 game Thursday in Wittenberg. “The girls played well tonight,” Wittenberg-Birnamwood coach Mike Balliett said. “We had balanced scoring and shot well from the outside.” Mikayla Hartman led the Chargers (14-2, 9-1 CWC-8) with 19 points.
Bears roll over Manawa
The Bonduel High School girls basketball team got a double-double from Taylor Weier in a 56-26 victory at Central Wisconsin Conference-8 foe Manawa on Thursday. Weier led Bonduel (12-2, 7-2 CWC-8) with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
