Hawks fall to Wrightstown at Shootout
With Wrightstown focusing its defense on senior center Zeke Gueths, it was time for the younger players on the Shawano Community High School boys basketball team to step up. They did, but the Hawks came up just short in a 56-51 loss Monday night at the Sun Drop Shootout in Green Bay. “Yeah, I definitely like how our young team came out and really were kind of aggressive,” Shawano head coach Dave Ambrosius said.
Commute to work easier than treacherous trip home
The drive to work should be easier than Monday's difficult trip home in Wisconsin where heavy, blowing snow and sleet caused hundreds of accidents and slowed travel to a crawl in some places. Storm warning in effect for much of Wisconsin
A wintry mix of snow, ice, gusty winds and freezing rain is expected to make travel difficult in most of Wisconsin through Tuesday. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for a large portion of the state.
Snowstorm cancels county committee meeting
Citing a winter storm warning, Shawano County canceled Monday’s County Board committee meeting to evaluate the merger approved in July of the county’s finance and administration departments. The topic had been scheduled for discussion at 6:15 p.m.

Gladys Fern Krueger (nee Olson), 94, of Clintonville, passed away on Dec. 23, 2015, at Evergreen Care Center in Shawano. The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory of Clintonville is assisting her family with the arrangements.
Thomas S. Neumann Sr.
Thomas S. “Tom” Neumann, Sr., 63, entered Heaven and joined his wife, Gail, on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015, with his loving family by his side. Tom was born on Feb. 5, 1952, to Felix and Kathryne (Mudzek) Neumann. He grew up in the Black Creek area where he also attended school. On April 25, 1970, he was united in marriage to the former Gail Balthazor. They resided in the town of Underhill where they raised their children and grandchildren.
Nelda Pauline Agnes Habeck
Nelda Pauline Agnes Habeck, 95, of Clintonville, was granted her wish of enjoying Christmas dinner with Jesus as she passed away peacefully Thursday morning, Dec. 24, 2015, at the Aster Retirement Community in Clintonville. Nelda was born on May 5, 1920, in the town of Pella, Shawano County, as the daughter of the late John and Alma (Neumann) Kuhn.
