John Dahlie

John William Dahlie, 72, of Weston, passed away March 9, 2026, after his courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Marshfield on Sept. 17, 1953, to the late Norman and Carol (Ohm) Dahlie. He married Katherine Jean Claire Seeger in 1977.

New athletic facility proposed at Wittenberg Elementary School

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood School Board has approved plans for a new 24,750-square-foot athletic facility behind Wittenberg Elementary-Middle School, 300 S. Prouty St., Wittenberg

A public informational meeting about the project will be held at 6 p.m. March 24 in the auditorium of Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School, 400 W. Grand Ave., Wittenberg. Questions can also be directed to Superintendent Garrett Rogowski at 715-253-2213.

• Carolyn C. Groshek, 41, Tigerton, pleaded no contest March 2 to manufacturing with intent to deliver amphetamine, two counts of possession of methamphetamine and two counts of felony bail jumping. Judge William Kussel Jr. sentenced her to seven years in prison followed by eight years of extended supervision with conditions.

• Dillon William Eckstein, 29, St. Edward, Nebraska, pleaded no contest March 2 to misdemeanor charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (third offense), resisting/failing to stop, resisting or obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct. A related felony count was dismissed in a plea agreement.
