William (Bill) Angus Jr., 88, passed away Saturday, Dec. 9, at Bellin Hospital after suffering from a brief illness. Bill was born and raised in Oconto Falls, married his wife, Jean (Lotter). Soon after graduating from high school, the family of five children began. Bill was a skilled machinist for decades and also worked endlessly as a handyman on the side doing home repairs and remodels.

Frederick Joseph Sleeter, 87, of Suring, passed away surrounded by family on Dec. 11, 2023. Fred was born to Harold and Martha Sleeter on March 8, 1936, in Iron Mountain, Michigan. He was a loving husband, supportive father, devoted grandfather and a caring brother. He began farming in 1945 as a child and continued doing so with his wife, Cheryl, on their farm starting in 1963. He graduated from Suring High School in 1954 and joined the U.S.

Brandon James Chapin went to be one of God’s Angels in heaven on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at the young age of 31. He was born on Sept. 3, 1992, to Peggy and Randy Chapin at St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay. Brandon had battled a brain tumor (hypothalamic pilocytic astrocytoma) since the age of 13. No one could top his jokes or his artistry and especially his warm and thoughtful heart!

After winning three straight and turning its season around, the Green Bay Packers got slapped in the face Monday, losing 24-22 to the New York Giants. It really seemed like the Packers had turned the corner after its victory over the Kansas Chiefs two weeks ago. The mistakes that fans had seen in the first ten games were seemingly over in the Packers’ three-game win streak.

The Green Bay Packers claimed cornerback David Long Jr. off waivers from the Carolina Panthers on Dec. 5. Long (5-11, 196), a fifth-year player out of the University of Michigan, was originally selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played four seasons for the Rams (2019-22) before joining the Las Vegas Raiders this past offseason.

Cornerback Corey Ballentine played college football at Washburn and was selected by the New York Giants in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He also played for the New York Jets, Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals before joining the Green Bay Packers. What’s this season been like for you? This season has obviously been up and down for me. I started on practice squad, and I’ve kind of worked my way up.
