Rotary Club marks 100th anniversary
A century of “Service Above Self,” the Rotary International motto, was recently celebrated by the Shawano Rotary Club. Rotary is known for its local and international goals. Locally, club projects have included improvement of Shawano recreation with projects at Kuckuk, Franklin and Sturgeon parks, along with support of school projects and student scholarships. New Wolf River Dental facility gets council approval
Plans to build a new dental facility on Engel Drive are not only interesting for the city of Shawano, but local schoolchildren, as well. The Shawano Common Council approved a development agreement Jan. 10 with Destiny Unbound LLC to build a new facility for Wolf River Dental, which currently operates out of Woodlawn Plaza.

Police still seeking clues into remains found on reservation
Law enforcement officials are still seeking information about the remains of someone discovered on the Menominee Reservation nearly three months ago. The Menominee Tribal Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating human skeletal remains discovered Oct.

Carol J. Mandel
Carol J. Mandel, 82, of New London, formerly of Shawano, passed away on Jan. 7, 2024, at St. Joseph Residence. Carol was born on Dec. 23, 1941, to the late Herbert and Adeline (Eiting) Niesen in Kaukauna. She was a graduate of Kaukauna High School. After high school, she worked raising her family as well as working as a cook at several area restaurants. She also spent time volunteering at her kids’ school. On Oct.

Plea hearing scheduled for Pulaski man
Jeffrey Wilson, 65, a Pulaski man who is facing a charge of first-degree child sexual assault with a child under age 13, in relation to an incident in the Town of Angelica in July 2022, is expected to enter a plea in March. Quinn Jolly, Wilson’s attorney, said the matter is close to a resolution with the Shawano-Menominee County District Attorney’s office. A plea hearing was scheduled for 3:15 p.m.

Elmer W. Martens
Elmer W. Martens, 101, of Shawano, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, Jan. 6, 2024, at Oak Haven Assisted Living in Shawano, where he had been a resident for the past year. Elmer was born June 11, 1922, in Kewaunee County, a son of the late Herman and Ada (Kirchman) Martens. He moved to Shawano as a child, graduating from Shawano High School with the class of 1940.

Ronda L. Radtke
Ronda L. Radtke, 78, of Marion, passed away Monday morning, Jan. 8, 2024, at the Greentree Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clintonville. Ronda was born on June 10, 1945, in New London as the daughter of the late Ernst and Marcella (Buss) Radtke. She graduated from Marion High School in 1963.

Linda Delzer
Linda Delzer, 70, Morgan, died peacefully Sunday evening, Jan. 7, 2024, at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay following a good fight with cancer. The daughter of Joyce (Hertwig) Reyment and the late Jerome Reyment was born Sept. 16, 1953, in Green Bay and grew up in Pulaski, where she graduated from high school in 1971. On July 10, 1971, she married Robert Delzer at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan.
