April 18 Manawa Invitational Shawano’s boys finished first and the girls finished second at the Manawa Invitational. Taking first for the boys were Ethan Onesti in the 800-meter run, Andon Chelberg in the 1,600-meter run, Will Chelberg in the 3,200-meter run and Connor Chelberg in the high jump. Three relay teams also earned first place.

April 19 Back the Track Area track and field athletes grabbed their share of first-place finishes at the Back the Track event in Rosholt. For the boys, Bonduel’s Ryan Westrich won the 100-meter dash, with Suring’s Quinn Thomson placing second. Westrich also won the discus, with Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s Landen Schmidt placing third. April 19 Whistling Straits Bonduel captured first place and four golfers placed within the top five scores, including the medalist spot, at Whistling Straits in Sheboygan. The Bears scored a 326. Colin Margelofsky was the best on the course with a 76.

April 20 Pulaski’s boys lacrosse team lost 18-2 to Sun Prairie in a non-conference game. The Red Raiders scored both goals in the second period, while allowing Sun Prairie to score eight in the first, three in the second, six in the third and one in the fourth. This week I revisited one of my favorite authors. Anne Rice. I’m not sure when she published her Wolf Gift Chronicles, but I discovered book one, “The Wolf Gift,” on Infosoup. I must say, it was pure Anne Rice; intriguing but extremely wordy. The Golding family has called San Francisco home for generations and done well. This generation includes Grace, Phil, James and Reuben. Phil is a poet and philosopher with a warm and dreamy outlook on life.

Members of the Gillett School Board want to see some numbers before they commit to hiring a school resource officer to interact with students. Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) has announced that Robert J. Erickson, MS, has been named HSHS Wisconsin market president and CEO. Erickson is scheduled to begin on April 29, and succeeds Brian Charlier, who retired in March. In addition to his market role, Erickson will also serve as president and CEO for HSHS St. Vincent Hospital and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center in Green Bay.
