Becoming 65, it’s clear Speedo days are over

As you read this, I am less than a month away from the big 6-5. Lord, I’m old. As one approaches those senior moments and plentiful-but-pitiful discounts (see, the glass is half full), you are bound to contemplate those great milestones that are past and those that are coming. “Your Speedo days are over,” a physical therapist recently commented. I’m not exactly sure what made him say that, but I chuckled at his not-so-subtle humor.
Rudnick gets bond hearing in sexual assault case
Jacob D. Rudnick, 30, of Seymour, will be back in court Aug. 9 for a bond hearing, hoping to be able to reduce the $200,000 cash bond he currently faces. Rudnick is being charged with two counts of third-degree sexual assault and one count of second-degree sexual assault for an attack that allegedly took place in a park in the Town of Lessor on Halloween night in 2022.

Tavern League to hold golf outing
The Shawano County Tavern League will hold its first ever golf outing Aug. 17 at the Shawano Lake Golf Course. Registration will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. There will also be raffle baskets, a 50/50 raffle, random hole prizes, hole events and payouts. The four-person team scramble event costs $75 per golfer.

Reuben Laurence Carlson was born on March 26, 1929. He was the third child of Walter and Velugu Carlson of Amery. He grew up in nearby Turtle Lake and graduated from Amery High School in 1947.
Barbara Dequaine
Barbara Dequaine, 85, Abrams, died surrounded by her family Wednesday morning, July 31, 2024, at Good Shepherd Meadow Wood. S She was born Nov. 13, 1938, to George and Agnes (VandenHuevel) VanBeynen. Barb grew up in Green Bay where she graduated Green Bay East with the class of 1958. On June 21, 1958, she married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Dequaine, in Green Bay, and together they had nine children.
June ag price report issued
The average price received by farmers for corn during June in Wisconsin was $4.24 per bushel according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service – Agricultural Prices report. This was 1 cent below the May price and $2 below June 2023. The June 2024 average price received by farmers for soybeans, at $12.80 per bushel, was $1.10 above the May price but $1.10 below the June 2023 price. The June average oat price per bushel, at $2.
ASPI holding auditions for ‘Seussical the Musical’
Abrams Spotlight Productions Inc. will hold auditions Aug. 27-28 for its winter musical “Seussical the Musical” to be presented Dec. 5-8 and Dec. 12-15. The musical takes audiences into the world of Dr. Seuss, where patrons revisit beloved characters including The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and JoJo.
