Jayne Joyce Deering (nee Hanke) left her earthly bonds on Aug. 5, 2024, after 97 years to join her Lord in heaven. She lived a life of service to her family, her community, her church and her country. Born near Underhill in 1927, Jayne was raised in a single parent home with her six siblings during the Great Depression. The poverty of the times taught her the value of hard work, thrift, gratitude and the importance of family.

It’s no secret the 2025 NFL Draft will be held in Green Bay on April 24-26, 2025. Shawano County businesses are busy promoting themselves in hopes their products and services won’t be a secret, either. In that vein, the Shawano County Park Campground will open earlier than normal in the season to accommodate anyone needing a campsite during the event. Keith Marquardt, Shawano County parks director, hopes to fill 75% of the available openings.
