Behnke tops Schmidt for Assembly race

Greg Parker, district attorney for Shawano and Menominee counties, held off a challenge by former Assistant District Attorney Alec Ballo in the Aug. 13 Republican primary. Parker topped Ballo 4,312 to 1,911 in the vote total, sweeping the entire city of Shawano. Parker lost by two votes in the Town of Bartelme and in the city of Marion. Steffen, Benson win primaries for 4th Assembly
In the 4th Assembly District, state Rep. David Steffen, R-Howard, defeated Darwin Behnke in the Republican primary Aug. 13, while Jane Benson outpolled Alexia Unertl on the Democratic side. The districtwide unofficial numbers showed Steffen with 6,098 votes to Behnke’s 3,043, while Benson had 3,515 votes and Unertl 958. Reuss testing well water samples at county fair
Oconto County residents have the opportunity to bring a sample of their well water and have the nitrate quantity analyzed free of charge during this year’s county fair. The well water nitrate testing is being provided by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension and will be conducted by Scott Reuss, regional crops/soils educator. Reuss will be on hand at the Oconto County Youth Fair in Gillett on Aug.
