Edward J. Asenbrenner, 93, of the town of Pella, passed away peacefully at his home on Nov. 17, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Sept. 20, 1921, in the town of Pella to the late Matt J. and Albina (Boudnik) Asenbrenner.
Edward attended Marion High School and graduated in 1940, and then worked on the family farm. On Oct. 4, 1944, he was united in marriage to Adeline Kutil at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marion. They settled on the family farm, where he lived his entire life. On 1956 he was elected secretary/treasurer of Pella Mutual Insurance Company and served in that position for 30 years. He was a member of the Shawano County Agricultural Society and served as treasurer of the Shawano County Fair for 35 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Leopolis, where he served on the church board and was usher for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and traveling with relatives and friends to many states and countries.
Edward is survived by his wife of 70 years, Adeline; his five children, Mike Asenbrenner, of Shawano, John (Jeanne) Asenbrenner, of Marion, Diane (Fred) Holt, of Middleton, Marie Asenbrenner, of Madison, and Dave (Kay) Asenbrenner, of Clintonville; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Francis Asenbrenner, of St. Paul, Minnesota; one sister, Eleanor Locati, of Forest Park, Illinois; two sisters-in-law, Lucille Pockat, of Bella Vista, Arizona, and Jeanne Kutil, of East Troy.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold; brothers-in-law, Ed and Joe Kutil, Robert Locati and Lee Pockat; as well as a sister-in-law, Margaret Asenbrenner.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Leopolis with the Rev. Patrick Lloyd officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. until the procession leaves for the church at 10:30 a.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
