BASEBALL Bonduel 9 Brillion 7 Bonduel High School extended their winning streak to nine games (9-0, 5-0 Central Wisconsin Conference-8) with a hard fought 9-7 win over Brillion on Friday. The Bears scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning including a two-run home run by Hunter VanderLinden (3-3, 2 RBI). After Bonduel allowed six runs in the second inning, the Bears bounced back with a four-run third inning with a solo home run by Connor Rosin and base hits by Colton Dobratz (2 hits) and Jordan Richter. Bonduel capped off the inning with a Travis Wollenberg sacrifice fly. Wollenberg pitched 4 1/3 innings, giving up two hits and two walks, and fanned four to earn the victory. VanderLinden picked up the save. notched the victory, pitching 4 1/3 inning, and allowed two hits and two walks. Travis Wollenberg earned the win for Bonduel pitching 4 1/3 innings, giving up just two hits and two walks while striking out 4. Hunter VanDerLinden earned a save. Jake Groth took the loss for Brillion (7-5, 4-4 Olympian), but had two hits and a double for the Lions. Port Edwards 15 Menominee Indian 1 The Eagles allowed four runs in the first inning to visiting Port Edwards Friday, losing a Central Wisconsin-10 matchup 15-1. Menominee Indian (4-7, 3-6 CWC-10) scored their only run in the first inning on a fielding error. Jake Schroeder got the win for Port Edwards (5-6, 2-6 CWC-10) with five strikeouts, a walk and allowed one earned run on two hits. The Eagles’ Michael Pecore took the loss after allowing 12 runs in three innings, but struck four, and walked three. Gresham 18 Tigerton 4 Gresham poured on an 11-run fourth inning en route to an 18-4 victory at Tigerton Friday. The Wildcats scored runs on singles by Christian Haffner (1-5, 3 RBIs, 2 R), Kalen Fischer (3-3, 2 BB, RBI, 4 R), Kevin Ile (4-6, 2 R, 5 RBIs) and a walk by Riley Nietzer (2-5, R, 2 RBIs, BB). Following the walk, Drew Haffner (2-4, 3 R, RBI, BB) singled in a run followed by a passed ball and two-run single by Neal Cerveny (23, 2 R, 2 RBIs, 3 BB). Ile capped off the inning with a run scoring single. Derek Bowman picked up the win for Gresham (6-3, 6-3 Central Wisconsin-10), allowing one earned on seven hits. He struck out five and walked one. Tigerton pitcher Hayden Harris took the loss, allowing five runs through 3 1/3 innings. Harris struck out five and walked five. Patrick Bailey, Conner Harris and Logan Moderson had two hits each for the Tigers (3-5, 3-5 CWC-10). SOFTBALL Marshall 9 Bonduel 0 The game may have felt just as lengthy as the drive. In the first game of the Poynette Jamboree, the Bonduel High School softball team was no-hit 9-0 against Marshall’s Dany Gumz on Friday. Gumz also hit one of Poynette’s two home runs in the game. Alexa Reinke took the loss for Bonduel, which has been winless since a season-opening victory over Oconto April 11. Menominee Indian 12 Port Edwards 0 A nine-run fifth inning lifted Menominee Indian High School to a 12-0 shutout against visiting Port Edwards Friday. The Eagles (6-1, 5-1 Central Wisconsin-10) scored on a two-run double by Joan Waukau, followed by a Raeshene Pocan run-scoring single. Sierra Maulson doubled in two runs and Elizabeth Corn capped off the rally with a three-run triple. Elizabeth Corn collected three extra-base hits Kelsey Corn picked up the complete game shutout with seven strikeouts and allowed three hits. Receiving the loss for Port Edwards (3-7, 3-6 CWC-10) was Briena Migut with 12 runs allowed through 4 2/3 innings. She walked nine and struck out two. Tigerton 14 Gresham 0 The Tigerton softball team scored in each of the first four innings in a 14-0 rout at home over Gresham, Friday. Megan Anheuser had four RBI for the Tigers, who scored five runs in the opening inning. They held an 8-0 lead after two innings and were able to continue expanding the advantage as Summer Kopitzke held Gresham scoreless. Kopitzke pitched four innings, getting three strikeouts and allowing only three hits. She also added two RBI for Tigerton, as did Erin Buch. Amber Brown entered in relief to close the game. Brianna Stehberger had two hits for Gresham. TENNIS Shawano 5 Green Bay East 2 The Hawks defeated Green Bay East behind a doubles sweep and two singles victories Friday at Green Bay East High School. All three doubles squads won in straight sets, with Teddy Mickelson and Zach Soper winning over Matt Waskovsky (6-1, 6-2), Sajen Knueppel/Dalton Parson defeating Ryan Vanden Boomen and Hugo Hernandez (6-0, 6-0) and Manuel Morel and Kyle Easter shutting out Dan Gerbec and Brando Mikulsky (6-0, 6-0). In singles action, Jacob Schoenike beat Nick Waskosky (6-2, 6-2) and Teddy Myers (6-1, 6-4) over Caleb Hawpetoss for Shawano (3-4). Junior varsity score: Shawano 2, Green Bay East 0.
