Shawano Community High School’s boys varsity basketball program in 2026-27 will be led by coach Rick Rosinski and assistant coach Jim Hayes, both recently hired by the district.
Rosinski has 23 seasons of varsity head coaching experience at Green Bay East and Green Bay Preble. Hayes has coached alongside Rosinski for 23 seasons — 20 at Green Bay East and three at Green Bay Preble — making the upcoming season their 24th together.
“I’m very excited to begin leading the boys basketball program at Shawano High School,” Rosinski said. “I’m greatly looking forward to meeting the Shawano players and the many fans and supporters of the program. I’m eager to get back in the gym and begin laying the groundwork for a fun and successful season in the Bay Conference.”
Rosinski is encouraged by the foundation already in place, including a core of returning players and a promising incoming freshman class.
Hayes also brings familiarity with Shawano, having coached against the Hawks for eight seasons in the Bay Conference while at Green Bay East.
“I always enjoyed the enthusiasm and excitement displayed by the students and fans in the Shawano gymnasium,” Hayes said. “Now, I’m eager to experience that type of fun atmosphere as a coach for the Shawano Hawks.”
The longtime coaching partners share a commitment to preparation, hard work and building lasting relationships with student-athletes.
“We love basketball and greatly enjoy coaching and being part of a team,” Hayes said. “The long-lasting relationships we have built with so many of our players over the years have been the highlight of our coaching careers.”
Kayla Brendemuehl, Shawano’s activities and athletics director, said their experience and established partnership will be an asset to the program.
“We are excited to welcome Rick and Jim to Shawano,” Brendemuehl said. “Their experience, familiarity with the Bay Conference and shared commitment to student-athletes make them a great fit for our boys basketball program. We are excited for the future of Shawano boys basketball.”
