Suring, Bonduel and Wittenberg-Birnamwood picked up wins in week 2 of the high school football season, while Oconto Falls and Marion/Tigerton came up short.
Suring 70, Niagara 8
Not only did the Eagles put 70 points on the board in their 8-player home opener Aug. 27, Suring’s defense also held the Badgers to 12 passing yards and 46 rushing yards, with 20 of them coming on a touchdown run by Owen Dunkes.
It was the second week in a row that Suring had no problem finding the end zone, as the Eagles opened the season Aug. 21 with a 47-6 win over Almond-Bancroft.
Bonduel 19, Coleman 7
The Bears hit the road for the first time this season and returned home Aug. 27 following a nonconference win over the Cougars.
Quarterback Quinn Wesenberg had a hand in all three of Bonduel’s touchdowns, as he connected with Carter Moesch for a 4-yard scoring pass in the first quarter, added a 6-yard pass to Jayden Popp in the second quarter and capped the scoring with a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Coleman’s touchdown in the third quarter came on Kollin Peters’ 35-yard pass to Kolton Peters.
Bonduel’s defense held Coleman to 126 yards of offense.
Moesch led Bonduel’s rushing game with 86 yards on 20 carries, while Malachi Gray added 67 yards.
Wesenberg completed four of nine passes for 33 yards.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood 23, Tomahawk 6
The Chargers gained 171 of their 305 rushing yards in the second half Aug. 28 in a nonconference win over the Hatchets in Wittenberg.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood turned the ball over three times, but they resulted in only six points for Tomahawk.
Seymour 21, Oconto Falls 13
The Panthers fell to the Thunder on Aug. 28 in the home opener at ST Paper Stadium.
Greg Salzman scored two of Seymour’s three touchdowns on runs of 86 and 62 yards.
The 86-yarder came with just over three minutes to go in the game following an interception.
Collin Radke stood out for Oconto Falls with a pair of interceptions, as well as a 10-yard touchdown pass from Nathaniel White in the final minute of the first half.
Almond-Bancroft 54, Marion/Tigerton 34
The Thundercatz fell to 0-2 on the season after dropping Central Wisconsin Conference 8-player opener to the Eagles Aug. 28 in Almond.
Almond-Bancroft trailed 34-16 at one point, but scored 38 unanswered points.
The Eagles suited up only 11 layers for the game. Kaden Martinez ran for 401 yards and six touchdowns for Almond-Bancroft.
