A Labor Day weekend baseball tradition will continue Sept. 6, as Gresham will host Little Falls in the 80th Badger Amateur Baseball Association Grand Championship.
First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
Both teams advanced to the title game after semifinal road wins Aug. 30. Gresham defeated Scandinavia 9-7 in Scandinavia, while Little Falls, the two-time defending Grand Champion, picked up an 8-2 win over Antigo/Polar in Antigo.
Gresham 9, Scandinavia 7
Scandinavia opened the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the third inning and had a 5-3 advantage heading into the bottom of the sixth before Gresham scored six runs to take a 9-5 lead into the bottom of the ninth.
The Vikings came up with two runs in the final inning.
Little Falls 8, Antigo/Polar 2
Little Falls headed to Antigo and returned home with a win over the Bears.
Gresham and Little Falls are no strangers to BABA championships. The two teams met for the title in 2021 in Little Falls, with the Loggers coming out on top.
Besides defeating Clintonville and Scandinavia to win championships in 2025 and 2024, respectively, Little Falls also won championships in 2021, 2007, 2006, 2000, 1997, 1996 and 1992.
Gresham’s last championship came in 2016 with a win over Tigerton after the Gophers also won it all in 1967, 1951 and 1947. Both teams also finished runner-up a combined six times.
