HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls is offering a free American Heart Association CPR training course at its hospital campus from 6-8:30 p.m. Oct. 22. During this one-evening event, attendees will learn lifesaving CPR skills.
According to the American Heart Association, CPR, an emergency lifesaving procedure performed when the heart stops beating, can double or triple chances of survival if performed immediately after cardiac arrest. With more than 436,000 Americans dying from cardiac arrest each year, this course provides participants training in the emergency procedure.
The upcoming course will teach participants how to perform CPR on adults, children and infants, as well as how to help people who are choking. The course is designed for family members, friends and members of the general community who want to learn CPR but do not require a CPR completion card. It is open to anyone 12 or older.
The course will be held in the Assisi Room at the hospital, 855 S. Main St., Oconto Falls. Space for this free training course is limited, and registration is required. To register, call 920-846-8057.
