The 13th annual Oconto Deck the Fence project is underway, featuring 155 lighted wreaths remembering loved ones or extending special holiday greetings.
A project of the GFWC Oconto Woman’s Club, the lighted wreaths hang on the fence along Brazeau Avenue from mid-November and to late January or early February. Over the past 12 years, more than 1,800 wreaths and greetings have provided a beautiful seasonal display enjoyed by all.
Wreath orders for this year can be submitted beginning Oct. 14 and will continue until Nov. 4 or until all 155 wreaths are sold. The $35 sponsorship fee includes the lighted wreath, ribbon and a Vital Signs placard. Orders are on a first-come, first-serve basis, and will be considered complete only when order information and payment in full ($35) is received.
To sponsor a wreath, forms will also be available on the GFWC Oconto Woman’s Club and Oconto Area Chamber of Commerce Facebook pages and at select local businesses in the community, starting in mid-October.
Complete all information and mail forms to GFWC Oconto Woman’s Club, c/o Janine Hornblad, 112 Holtwood Way, Oconto, WI 54153, with a check payable to GFWC Oconto Woman’s Club. To avoid errors on the placards, print all requested information legibly.
In 2023, all wreaths were sold by Oct. 31, so people are encourage to order early. Orders and reservations for wreaths will not be accepted by telephone and are considered complete only when full payment has been received. For more information, call the project coordinator at 920-834-5206.
Proceeds from this project fund future fence displays, club scholarships and community projects such as the Oconto County School Supply Drive.
