Myra R. Vomastic, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at her home in Shawano.
Myra was born Nov. 28, 1924, in Embarrass, a daughter of the late Gustave and Adelia (Schulz) Berndt. She attended country schools.
On May 24, 1947, Myra was united in marriage to Harold Vomastic at Zion Lutheran Church in Embarrass. Following their marriage, the couple lived and farmed in the town of Waukechon. The couple retired from farming and moved to Shawano in 1985. Harold preceded her in death on June 15, 2011. Since her marriage to Harold, Myra was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano.
Myra was an avid flower gardener, enjoyed playing cards, and visiting. She took great pride in all of her endeavors.
Survivors include her children Theodore Vomastic, Maureen (Jon) Shively, Jean (Benjamin) Ziemer, Deborah (Roy) Pleshek, Tim (Lori) Vomastic, and Barb (Steve) Reed, all of Shawano; 14 grandchildren; 20 great- grandchildren; two sisters, Vera Smith of New London, and Rogean Ehlert of Shawano; and many nieces and nephews.
Myra was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Berndt, and her sisters, Betty Nollenberg, Evelyn Schmidt, and an infant sister, Beatrice Berndt.
Funeral services for Myra Vomastic will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church. Pastor Ted Andrada will officiate. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery of Shawano. Relatives and friends may call at St. James Lutheran Church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. A memorial fund has been established in her name for St. James Lutheran Church.
