Hillside Assembly of God Church in Gillett will present the Easter musical “More Than Just a Man” at 7:30 p.m. Good Friday, April 3. The public is also invited to a dress rehearsal at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28.
It has been said that only one man could turn a week of betrayal, intrigue and murder into the most holy week of the year. That man, Jesus, is the inspiration behind “More Than Just a Man.”
The drama explores the Holy Week events from the perspective of the Sanhedrin, the ruling religious body of the Jews. The main characters wrestle with the divinity of Jesus. portrayed by Chuck McDermid.
High Priest Caiaphas (Keith Simpson), Nicodemus (Gary Mertz) and Joseph of Arimathea (Jonathan Carlson) each face his moment of truth. Scenes take place in the chambers of the Sanhedrin, in a garden, on the temple grounds, on the cross and by the tomb.
The musical is directed by Anncille Engel.
