Clarice M. Block, 92, of Tigerton, passed away Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at the Homme Home of Wittenberg.
The former Clarice Marie Hansen was born Dec. 25, 1921, in the town of Morris, Shawano County, to Even and Stella (Gilbertson) Hansen.
Clarice graduated from Tigerton High School, and she worked for some time in the kitchen at Homme Home. For many years, while raising her children, she did laundry and sewing for families in the area. Clarice was united in marriage on June 2, 1973, to Roland “Turk” Block at Zion Lutheran Church, Tigerton. The couple made their home in Tigerton, where she was a member and always volunteered with different projects at Zion Lutheran Church. Clarice also served for close to 40 years as an election official for the village of Tigerton.
Her interests included bowling, watching the Brewers play baseball, and she could quickly complete word search puzzles. Clarice also enjoyed crocheting, making quilts, blankets, pillow cases and much more. She will be remembered most as a devoted wife and a special mother and grandmother. Clarice always loved spending time with family and taking care of her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Roland, and five sons, Allen (Darlene) Anderson, of Tigerton, Ronald (friend Stacy) Anderson, of Waupaca, Dennis (Lois) Anderson, of Tigerton, Michael (Darlene) Anderson, of Sale Creek, Tennessee, and Darell (Mary Ann) Anderson, of Plymouth. There are eight grandchildren: Heidi Walkush, Heather (Edward) Stewart, Holly (Lucas) Gehrman, Shelly (Mark) Sambs, Sara Anderson, Eric Anderson, Andrea Anderson and Nathan Anderson. There are 14 great-grandchildren: Jordan (Amber) Arndt, Tasha Arndt, Tabby Arndt, Aaron Dobizl, Tanner Dobizl, Olivia Anderson, Ashley Stewart, Trevor Stewart, Teagon Stewart, Treyton Sambs, Sienna Sambs, Keiden Sambs, Alexis Minniecheske and Deanna Anderson. She is further survived by three stepgrandchildren, Sherry, Shannon and Shawn; a brother-in-law, Elmer Block, of Wittenberg; many other relatives and friends.
Clarice was preceded in death by her parents, a sister-in-law, Anita (Wallace) Kielblock, and a brother-in-law, Edward Block.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov. 21, at noon at the Homme Home Chapel, Wittenberg. Chaplain Karen Zutz-Rendall will officiate, and inurnment will be at Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Friends may call on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until time of the service at Homme Home.
