Four wins in field events gave the Shawano Community High School boys track and field team a slight advantage over Seymour in Tuesday’s home tri-meet.
The Hawks’ field wins complimented their multiple track wins, and they finished with a two-point advantage, 79-77, over Seymour. Marinette was third in the tri-meet with 27 points.
Seymour (69.5) won the girls’ meet, with Shawano (59.5) second and Marinette (40) third.
Daniel Boivin earned two wins in field events, taking both the pole vault (13 feet, 6 inches) and triple jump (41-11). He also led a 1-2 Shawano finish in the 300 hurdles, finishing in 41.72 seconds while teammate Tyrell Hesse (45.14) was second.
Boivin and Hesse also teamed with Olin Gilliam and Jake Klister to win the 800 relay in 1:37.14, nearly 10 seconds ahead of second-place Marinette (1:46.27).
The Hawks also won the 1,600 and 3,200 relays. Brandon Pagel, Klister, Logan Stefl and Austin Lhotka won the 1,600 relay for Shawano in 3:50.82. Lhotka then joined Griffin Bohm, Chase Lhotka and Andrew Cardish to win the 3,200 relay in 9:03.49.
Cardish also earned an individual victory, finishing the 1,600 in 4:51.77 to lead a 1-2-3 sweep. Austin Lhotka (4:52.48) finished second and Chase Lhotka (5:12.23) was third.
Shawano also won the 800 with Pagel finishing in 2:11.54, which was more than 10 seconds ahead of Seymour’s Oskar Petzold (2:22.57).
The Hawks earned 20 points with victories in field events. Michael Mault (17-4.5) and Nathan Frechette (17-2.75) led the long jump field, earning eight points for Shawano.
Hesse (5-10) earned five points with a win in the high jump; Klister (5-2) added 1.5 points by tying for third. Marinette was third with 40 points.
Shawano’s girls won three of four relay events and two individual events.
Kathryn Kugel, Paige Bohm, Mia Coffman and Hannah Wendorff finished the 3,200 relay in 11:27.05 to earn the win. Werndorff joined Shauna Chladek, Kennedy Erdman and Kendell Bricco to win the 400 relay in 58.06.
Bohm also ran with Allison Senzig, Jewel Carey and Christa Cummings to win the 1,600 relay in 4:40.29.
Shawano earned one individual track event with Kugel (6:12.3) finishing the 1,600 nearly 11 seconds ahead of Margaret Michaels (6:23.14) of Marinette.
The Hawks also had a win in a field event as Kristina Kurtz cleared 9-6 in the pole vault.
