Henry G. “Skip” Wichman, 82, of Mountain, passed away at his home Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Skip was born April 8, 1944, to the late Henry and LaNeice (Evans) Wichman. He was raised in Appleton and graduated from Appleton West High School with the class of 1962.
On April 30, 1966, Skip married Jean Ruby. The couple resided in Darboy until 1971, when they moved to the Mountain area where they would raise their family and spend the rest of their lives together. They celebrated 58 years together before Jean’s passing in October 2024.
Skip worked several jobs over the years and retired from Carver Boat in 2009. Skip was an avid fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. Skip also enjoyed working on various projects in his garage and spent countless hours doing so. Skip had a strong faith in God and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.
Skip is survived by his four children, Amy (Al Kalies) Hoefler, Tod (Angela) Wichman, Mark (Kelly) Wichman and Greg (Sue Linzmeyer) Wichman; eight grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Colton) Holzschuh, Victoria Yando, Savannah Wichman, Lauren Wichman, Brexton Flynn, Erin Wichman, Ruby Wichman and Evan Wichman; two great-grandchildren, Emery Holzschuh and Norah Holzschuh; three siblings, Mike (Judy) Wichman, Mary (Joe) Nemecek and Pat (Jim) Van Oss. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; parents; infant grandson, Joshua Hoefler; three brothers, Don (Barb) Wichman, Evan “Bud” (Beverly) Wichman and Eugene (Sue) Wichman; eight siblings-in-law, Lawrence “Ike” (Gert) Ruby, Marian (Harold) Youngwirth, Virginia “Ginnie” (Milton) Falk, George (Elizabeth) Ruby, Ralph (Margaret) Ruby, Laura (Wayne “Buzz”) Krause, Lucille “Punky” (LeRoy “Babe”) Kinderman and Irene “Skeeter” (Chuck) Johnson.
Skip’s family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses who have guided him through many health struggles over the past several years and also to the Mountain Ambulance Service for being there when they were needed.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at St. Michael Catholic Church Chapel, 12494 State Highway 32, Mountain, from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at noon with the Rev. Antonio De Los Santos officiating. Skip will be interred privately at Mountain Cemetery beside Jean.
