Antigo hockey team shuts out Shawano/Bonduel

Jan. 11 Antigo 5, Shawano/Bonduel 0 Shawano/Bonduel’s boys hockey team was no match for Eli Kassler and his teammates as Kassler scored all five goals in the Red Robins 5-0 shutout at the Langlade County Fairgrounds in Antigo. Kassler first scored at 10:35 in the first period with an assist by Owen Dickman. Ethan Novy and Dickman assisted on Kassler’s next goal at 15:43. In the second period, Kassler scored on his own at 12:01. He scored another solo goal at 4:25 in the third period and his final goal at 14:41 with Dickman and Parker Chaney assisting. Richie Veriha had 23 saves for the Red Robins. Tyson Lyons had 19 saves against 24 shots on goal for Shawano/Bonduel. Antigo was called for five penalties for 10 minutes. Shawano/Bonduel was called for six penalties for 12 minutes. Jan. 10 Shawano/Bonduel 4, Fox Cities 2 The Fox Cities Stars had 42 shots on goal compared to only seven for Shawano/Bonduel, but the home team made the most of their attempts, winning 4-2 at the Crawford Center. Trailing 1-0 after the first period, Shawano/Bonduel found the scoreboard with the help of Gavin Hundt who would end the night with a hat trick. Hundt scored at 7:25 in the second period and again at 15:32 to put Shawano/Bonduel up 2-1. Blake Knope scored at 5:34 in the third period, and Hundt had his hat trick at 10:27 on an empty net goal. Fox Cities scored a final goal at 16:25. Kaiden Thornborrow had 40 saves for Shawano/Bonduel. Fox Cities players were called for three penalties for six minutes. Shawano/Bonduel had eight penalties for 16 minutes for a variety of infractions, including hooking, tripping, slashing, roughing, holding and head contact.
